Chhatra League: Our parents worried due to subversive activities of BNP

Voicing concern over the rising violence, unrest, and attacks on educational institutes by BNP activists, Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) President Saddam Hossain on Wednesday said that parents are now extremely worried due to the subversive activities of the BNP.

He made the remark at a protest rally in Dhaka University in response to recent attacks instigated by BNP activists on several educational institutions, including Mirpur Bangla College.

Led by Chhatra League's General Secretary Sheikh Wali Asif Inan, the protest rally not only denounced the violence caused by the BNP supporters but also called for assurance of student safety across Bangladesh.

Addressing the gathering, Awami League student wing President Saddam Hossain voiced his concern over the rising violence and unrest during the BNP's march.

“Efforts are being made to destabilize the politics of Bangladesh. While we are holding this assembly here, Eku Babu Chakma is fighting for his life at Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH). He was injured in an attack by BNP criminals on Wednesday and is now battling for his life,” Hossain said.

“When we were holding a peace rally here, BNP and Jamaat activists entered the Hajee Mohammad Danesh Science and Technology University and attacked the general students while holding their rally. Today, our parents are extremely worried due to the terrorist attack of BNP,” he remarked.

Saddam Hussein further pledged to ensure a safe and uninterrupted study environment for students in Bangladesh. He urged the Ministry of Home Affairs to take strict action against those who are attacking educational institutions.

Dhaka University Chhatra League President Mazharul Kabir Shayan accused the BNP of engaging in criminal activities across the country.

“The same parties that have been rejected by the people and students of this country have committed acts of terrorism nationwide. They have attacked ordinary people and caused harm everywhere - in Mirpur Bangla College, Khagrachhari, Feni, and at the Bogura Government Girls' High School,” he said.

“They cannot turn Bangladesh into a failed state,” Shayan declared.

Dhaka University Chhatra League General Secretary Tanbir Hasan Saikat criticized the BNP for inciting violence.

“On Wednesday, the BNP began a descent into chaos under the guise of a protest march. They are reviving the same policy of murder and arson that they started in 2013-14. Their victory march is a march of murder," he commented.

Thousands of activists and supporters of Chhatra League from various halls of Dhaka University, Mirpur Bangla College and Titumir College attended the protest rally.
