35km tailback on Dhaka-Tangail-Bangabandhu Bridge

A 35km tailback has been created on the Dhaka-Tangail-Bangabandhu Bridge Highway since early Wednesday.

The passengers and drivers have been experiencing significant inconvenience on the east side of Bangabandhu Bridge to Rabana Bypass due to a combination of road crashes, vehicle breakdowns, and the temporary suspension of toll collection since 4am.

Police said a road crash was reported on the bridge on Wednesday and a pick up van broke down. It took authorities over an hour to move the vehicle. On the other hand, the bridge authority stopped toll collection several times during the night.

According to Zahid Hasan, officer-in-charge of Elenga Highway police station, the traffic congestion originated from the accident that occurred on both the bridge and the highway. “Our team is actively fulfilling our duty on the road. Efforts are underway to alleviate the congestion.”
