Six-murder in Rohingya camp: Fugitive accused arrested in Rohingya camp

The Armed Police Battalion (APBn) on Monday arrested the absconding accused in the six murder case from Rohingya camp in Cox's Bazar.

A team of APBn arrested him from Balukhali Camp in Ukhiya upazila.

The arrestee is Sabbir Ahmed alias Lalu, 30, son of Abdul Motaleb of Camp no 18 at Balukhali Camp. 

Lalu is a top terrorist of the Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (Arsa), APBn said.

APBn-8 Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Farooq Ahmed said that they launched an operation after receiving information about the location of Lalu. 

At this time, an illegal walkie-talkie was recovered from him. He was handed over to Ukhiya police station, the ASP added.

On October 22, 2021, six people were killed in a madrasa of the Rohingya camp. 

On the night of September 29 that year, the chairman of Arakan Rohingya Society for Peace and Human Rights Muhibullah was shot dead in his office in Kutupalong camp.
