Minister: Independence achieved through 6-point movement

Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque emphasized that the independence of Bangladesh cannot be envisioned without the pivotal role played by the six points.

He credited the Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, for uniting and inspiring the entire nation through this revolutionary agenda.

The minister said this during a public lecture held at Bangladesh Open University on Wednesday, according to a press release.

Mozammel Haque also highlighted that despite being aware of the risks involved, Bangabandhu remained resolute in his pursuit of the six points. Consequently, these six points hold immense significance and are regarded as a crucial and cherished chapter in the history of Bangladesh.

Professor Dr Syed Humayun Akhtar, vice-chancellor of Bangladesh Open University, lauded Bangabandhu's six points as a visionary and timely decision.

He emphasized that the six points instilled courage within the nation and provided a glimpse of the dream of liberation. Moreover, they served as the foundation for subsequent milestones such as the mass uprising of 1969, the 1970 election, and the historic liberation war of 1971.

Akhtar further stated: "Bangladesh stands as a role model in the world today. If we can successfully implement the strategic initiatives and mega-projects undertaken by Bangabandhu's daughter, Sheikh Hasina, we can establish ourselves as a self-respecting nation on the global stage."

The vice-chancellor called upon everyone to work together with integrity and dedication, embracing the ideals and philosophy of Bangabandhu, in order to ensure a prosperous future for the nation.
