The allocation for the Election Commission has increased by 70% in the national budget for the 2023–24 fiscal year.
The major part of this budget will be spent on the upcoming 12th parliamentary elections and upazila parishad elections.
The overall budget of the Election Commission stood at Tk2,406 crore.
Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal on Thursday unveiled a Tk7,61,785 crore proposed national budget for the 2023–24 fiscal year in the national parliament on Thursday.
The proposed budget will be 15.2% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
