GCC polls: More than 33% voter turnout in first four hours

Around 33% votes were cast in the first four hours at several polling centres in the Gazipur City Corporation (GCC) elections.

At Choto Dewra School, one of the largest polling area of Ward 29 of GCC, more than 33% of the voters cast their vote.

Choto Dewra Agrani High School has three polling centres inside the compound. 

A total of 7,517 voters are in these centres and voting is going on peacefully, according to Executive Magistrate Sayem Imran, who is assigned in the area for GCC polls.

Faruk Ahmed, presiding officer of Choto Dewra School told Dhaka Tribune that within 12pm already 33.61% votes have been cast in his centre. 

Omar Maruf, presiding officer (female section) of Dewra High School said that within 12:40pm 40% (2,402) votes have been cast in the centre.

Similar situation was seen in another centre at Choto Dewra School where more than 35% votes have been cast.
