A man has been killed and another sustained injuries in the landmine explosion in Ruma Upazila of Bandarban, amid a special raid by joint forces in the area.
The deceased is Jewel Tripura, 27, and the injured is Abraham Tripura, 35, both hailing from Remakri-Prangsa Union of the upazila.
The incident took place in ward number 6 of Soulpi Para Wednesday afternoon.
The Kuki-Chin National Front (KNF), a separatist group, allegedly planted landmines, according to locals. Security forces have been raiding the KNF hideouts in Ruma's Maulpi neighborhood for the past several days.
Two army officers were killed and two others injured in an ambush by the armed wing of the KNF near Jarulchhari Para on Tuesday.
Md Abdullah Al Noman, a doctor at Thanchi Health Complex, said that the injured person was sent to Bandarban Sadar Hospital for better treatment.
On the other hand, Yasin Ahmed, officer-in-charge of Thanchi police station, said that the body of the deceased would be handed over to the family after a post-mortem.
