Bangladesh witnesses record 15,604 MW power generation

Power plants in Bangladesh produced 15,604 megawatts of electricity on Monday — a new record, according to the Power Development Board.

It is the highest daily power generation in the country's history.

As much as 15,604MW of electricity was produced at 9pm (peak hour) on Monday, Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) Director sources told the media.

Earlier on April 13, 2023, a record 15,304 megawatts of electricity was generated.

Before this, on April 12 the highest electricity production recorded in the country was 14,932 megawatts and on April 11 was 14,800 megawatts.

This is the fourth time the country witnessed record power generation. 

According to the PDB, this new production record is the result of maximum effort to maintain normal power generation and supply during Ramadan and summer.

Currently, the power generation capacity of the country is more than 22,700MW.
