Brigadier General Md Main Uddin, director general of the Fire Service and Civil Defense, urged the media on Thursday to create awareness among people about manmade and natural disasters, including earthquakes and fire.
Dhaka TribuneHe also urged journalists to inform people about the activities of the Fire Service while talking to Dhaka Tribune after receiving the country's highest state award, the Swadhinata Padak (Independence Award), under the public service category this year.
The brigadier general said the Fire Service is always on the alert to face any disaster.

Recently, the Fire Service and Civil Defence carried out mass campaigns as part of its regular awareness program in Dhaka, Mymensingh, Lakshmipur, Rangpur, Jamalpur, and other divisions and cities.
