Food Minister Sadhan: India is Bangladesh’s real friend

Food Minister Sadhan Chandra Majumder on Thursday lauded the neighboring country India saying it stands by Bangladesh all the time as a genuine friend.

The people of Bangladesh will never forget the love of Indian people that was demonstrated by giving shelter to about 10 million people and providing medicines, food or services sometimes, he said.

The minister said this while speaking as the chief guest at the 'India-Bangladesh Friendship Celebration' event at a Rajshahi hotel, organized by Assistant High Commission of India, Rajshahi.

Many people think that this friendship with India will not exist if there is a change of government. It's not right. Because change of government does not change minds, policy does not change. This friendship will never be lost. Bengalis are not an ungrateful nation, he said.

The minister also mentioned that both the neighbouring countries are working to strengthen the friendship and confidence between Bangladesh and India.

Assistant High Commissioner of India in Rajshahi Shri Manoj Kumar said India supports Bangladesh in every good work.

The people of India helped gain independence standing with the neighboring country in the Great Liberation War in 1971, he said.

He added that the people of the two countries share a common language and culture which has strengthened the relationship between the two countries.

Rajshahi Metropolitan Police Commissioner Md Abul Kalam Siddique, valiant Freedom Fighter Nowsher Ali and prominent social worker Shahina Akhter Reni, also spoke on the occasion, among others.
