Members of the organization Mayer Kanna have met with US Ambassador Peter Haas with a complaint of human rights violation during former president Ziaur Rahman's tenure, seeking ambassador's help in this regard.
Mayer Kanna is an organization of families of army members who were victims of killings and disappearances in 1977 during the tenure of Ziaur Rahman.
Its members gave a memorandum of complaints when Peter Haas went to meet a family in the capital's Shaheen Bagh on Wednesday morning.
The organizers of Mayer Kanna said during Ziaur Rahman's regime, thousands members of the air force were victims of enforced disappearances in the name of suppressing the rebellion of October 2, 1977.
Locals said the children of the executed and terminated air force members gathered in front of the house on receiving news that the US ambassador was there.
When the ambassador was leaving, the members of Mayer Kanna gave him the memorandum.
They also said they have requested the US ambassador for an international investigation into the disappearances 45 years ago.
At the same time, they sought the cooperation of the US government against human rights violations during the military regime.
The organizers also said the details of the disappearance will be presented to the US ambassador later.
