Chhatra League leaders and activists on Saturday morning started checking mobile phone messages of pedestrians at Nilkhet intersection in the capital.
If any connection to BNP was found on their phones, they were beaten and handed over to the police.
Focusing on the rally, BCL activists have been stationed at various spots of Dhaka University campus and its surrounding areas since morning. At the same time, the central leaders were having a showdown with motorcycles in the High Court, Dhaka Medical College, and Press Club area.
Former general secretary of DU Chhatra League Saddam Hussain called the activities of BNP as terrorism and their presence in politics unacceptable.
He added: “Those who are trying to establish corruption in the name of politics must be strongly resisted. Irrespective of party affiliation, they should be wiped out from the politics of Bangladesh. We as students are working on our part in this regard.”
