At least four people were killed in three separate road accidents in Tangail, Bogra, and Khulna on Sunday night.
In Tangail, two people were killed as a bus collided with a CNG in Mirzapur upazila on Sunday.
The deceased were identified as CNG driver Atik Miah, 56, son of Owasir Miah, and Jewel Miah, 33, son of Amzad Miah.
Police and locals confirm that Atik and his assistant Jewel were driving their CNG-run autorickshaw through Charpara bypass.
At that time, a Tangail-bound bus from Dhaka with passengers crashed into the autorickshaw leaving Atik and Jewel severely injured. Later, they were rushed to Kumudini Hospital, where the duty doctors declared them dead.
The Gorai Highway police outpost Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mollah Tutul said the dead body of the autorickshaw drivers were kept at the morgue. The authorities will hand over the bodies to their families once investigation is done.
In Bogra, a assistant sub-inspector (ASI) was killed when a truck hit a CNG-run auto-rickshaw on Bogra-Naogaon regional highway in Sadar upazila on Sunday.
The deceased was identified as Bikash Chandra Sarker, 38, of Naogaon. He was posted in 4th Armed Police Battalion (APBn) in Cox's Bazar, Bogra Sadar police station OC Salim Reza confirmed.
ASI Bikash was returning home after testifying in court when the accident took place.
Locals took him to Bogra Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital where duty doctors declared him dead.
OC Salim Reza said: “The truck driver managed to run away immediately after the accident.”
In Khulna, a cyclist was killed after being hit by a passenger bus at Rupsa bridge. The accident took place around 11:15pm on Sunday.
The deceased was identified as Abdul Alim, 55, son of Zahidur Rahman of Chota Khalpar area of Tutpara Mohirbari.
According to locals, Abdul Alim along with his younger brother Abdul Jalil were returning home from Rupsa Bridge on a motorcycle at night.
A Saudi Transport bus heading in the opposite way toward Dhaka crashed with their motorcycle when it reached the center of the Rupsa Bridge leaving Abdul Alim and his brother seriously injured.
Both of them were rushed to the Khulna Medical College Hospital where on-duty doctor declared Abdul Alim dead.
On the other hand, younger brother Abdul Jalil is undergoing treatment at the hospital.
Labonchora police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Enamul Haque said that the bus from Saudi Transport was detained but the driver managed to escape.
