The two mayors of Dhaka city corporations are set to be awarded the status of minister.
Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Mayor Atiqul Islam and Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Mayor Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh will be given ministerial status.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has approved the proposal for the new rank of the mayors, says a notification by Prime Minister's Office (PMO).
Alongside Dhaka mayors, Chittagong Mayor Rezaul Karim Chowdhury and Narayanganj Mayor Selina Hayat Ivy are set to get the status of state minister.
