Kushtia residents thronged local refuelling stations late on Friday following the government’s price hike announcement.
Hundreds of people were seen at Mollik Filling Station of Mirpur municipality to buy fuel oil at about 10:30pm on Friday.
Due to such huge demand, the station authorities even had to stop fuel supply for around half an hour.
Local resident Aminul Islam Hanas said he came to know about the hike when he was standing in line at the station, adding that he could not buy any fuel oil.
Another local, Ashiqul, also said he had waited for an hour but had been unable to buy fuel.
The government on Friday announced that it had raised all types of fuel oil prices, which came into effect on Saturday.
Now the prices of diesel and kerosene per litre at the consumer level is Tk114, octane Tk135, and petrol Tk130.
