WorldFish Bangladesh has trained some 50 sea-bound boat skippers on the conservation of biodiversity and responsible fishing practices at Hatia in Noakhali.
The two-day training, held at the Burirchar Burirduna Fish Landing Center of Hatia, was organized by WorldFish Bangladesh's ECOFISH II Activity with USAID funding.
Research Associate Angkur M Imteaz, Research Assistant Munayem Hossain and Marine Fisheries Officer Azharul Islam of ECOFISH II acted as facilitators in the training.
Fifty boat skippers of the area took part in the training.
On the last day of the event on Sunday, UpazilaNirbahi Officer Mohammad Salim Hossen distributed life jackets among the trained boat skippers and goats among 80 fishermen.
The event was presided over by Fokhrul Islam, chairman of Hatia’s Burirchar Union.
