Biman suspends 3 officials over collision of aircraft at Dhaka airport

Biman Bangladesh Airlines has temporarily suspended three officials over the latest collision between two aircraft at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport’s (HSIA) hangar.

The suspended officials are — Principal Engineer Md Harunur Rashid Chowdhury, Engineering Officer Shah Newaz and Junior Technical Officer Nurul Alam, Tahera Khondker, Biman’s General Manager (Public Relations) told media.

She added that the three officials were suspended on July 5, reports UNB.

On Sunday, two aircraft of Biman Bangladesh Airlines collided at the hangar of HSIA, for the fourth time in less than three months.

The right wing of a Boeing 787 Dreamliner hit the left wing of Boeing 737 when workers were taking the first plane into the hangar for maintenance at 9:20pm.

Earlier,  a runway baggage cart of US-Bangla Airlines hit a Boeing 737 of Biman, damaging the aircraft on June 4.

Two probe committees were formed over the incident. 

On April 10, Two planes of the national flag carrier were grounded for several days after a similar collision at an airport hanger.

Biman suspended five officials, including its principal engineer, over the incident.
