Dipu Moni wants new generation to know Bangladesh’s true history

Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni has called on all for depicting the true history of genocide and torture during the Liberation War in Bangladesh so that the new generation can know about the nation properly.

All school and college students should be given opportunities to obtain knowledge about history, philosophy and culture, she added.

The education minister was addressing the closing ceremony of a training course titled "Genocide-Torture and War of Liberation 1971" at Shaheed AHM Kamaruzzaman auditorium in Rajshahi as the chief guest on Thursday.

With Rajshahi Education Board Chairman Prof Habibur Rahman in the chair, Genocide Trust President Prof Muntasir Mamun and Genocide Museum Trustee Prof Mahbubur Rahman also spoke on the occasion.

Dipu Moni said the young generation should be engaged in the country's development.

She told the audience that massive changes have been made in the national curriculum aimed at making students worthy citizens.

"We want a knowledge-based society instead of a certificate-based one for taking the country forward," she added.
