The government has suspended first class air travel abroad at government costs until further notice.
“As part of the multifaceted measures to rationalize government expenditure in the post-Covid economic recovery and the global crisis, foreign travel in ‘first class' by air at government expense has been suspended until further notice,” said a media statement of the Prime Minister's Press Wing.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina signed the summary related to it on Wednesday, it added.
In November last year, the government had taken a similar step by banning foreign travel of all officers and employees of state-owned organizations at their institutions' expenses.
In May last year, the finance ministry also issued an order to bar all officers in government, semi-government, and autonomous organizations alongside government banks and financial institutions from travelling abroad.
