The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested the principal suspect in a fraud case filed under the Digital Security Act (DSA) in Rajshahi.
Al Amin, 32, of Chandpur, was arrested in the capital's Shahjahanpur on Tuesday, according to a press statement issued on Wednesday by Farzana Haque, staff officer (media) of RAB-3.
It said RAB members were monitoring Al Amin's activities since the filing of the DSA case by Enamul Haque, director of local government at the office of Rajshahi divisional commissioner.
Naogaon land office employee Sultana Jasmine, who was arrested by RAB and died in a hospital after three days on March 24, was also named in the case.
Acting on a tip-off from the RAB Headquarters, a team of RAB-3 raided Shahjahanpur area on Tuesday afternoon and arrested him, RAB said.
Al Amin, a mobile financial service provider, allegedly created a fake Facebook account in the name of Enamul Haque and defrauded people by offering them government jobs.
During initial interrogation, he admitted to his involvement in fraudulent activities and swindling millions from unsuspecting job seekers.
