Eminent economist, historian and former advisor to a caretaker government Dr Akbar Ali Khan has been laid to rest.
He was buried at Mirpur Martyred Intellectuals' Graveyard in Dhaka at 3pm on Friday.
A freedom fighter and changemaker, Akbar Ali Khan was given a guard of honour after Jummah prayers and a namaz-e-janaza (funeral prayers) at Gulshan Azad Mosque earlier in the day.
Akbar Ali Khan died from a heart attack at United Hospital in the capital at around 10pm on Thursday.
He was taken to the hospital in the evening after he fell ill at his residence.
Akbar Ali was one of the most prominent faces of public service in Bangladesh who served different organizations, including the Water Resources Ministry, Bangladesh Public Administration Training Centre, Finance Division, Cabinet Division and World Bank.
He also authored several books, including “Porarthoporotar Orthoniti” and “Ajob o Jobor-Ajob Orthoniti”.
