A tolerant and proper Muslim can not set fire to someone's house, said Gonoshasthaya Kendra (GK) Founder and Trustee Dr Zafrullah Chowdhury
He said: "One does not become a servant of Allah with a Muslim name. If Muslims are not decent then they can not be regarded as human beings
Dr Zafrullah made the remarks while visiting the ransacked Hindu homes, shops and temples in the Digholia village under Narail’s Lohagara upazila on Sunday.
He condemned the incidents of communal violence saying: "Their label as minorities is allowing them to be oppressed. To get to our dream of living in a secular country, we must work against poverty.”
Dr Zafrullah was accompanied by Ganasamhati Andolon Chief Coordinator Zonayed Saki, Bhasani Anusari Parishad Sheikh Rafiqul Islam Bablu, Jatiyatabadi Muktijoddha Dal President Ishtiaq Aziz Ulfat, and GK Press Adviser Jahangir Alam Mintu.
Agreeing to the GK founder’s remarks, Zonayed Saki said: "I rebuke the attack on the Hindu community, including the vandalism of their houses and shops, and the mugging. We demand severe punishment for those involved in this atrocious incident."
"It is important to have a speedy trial in such cases," Saki added.
