Nor’wester sweeps through country

A seasonal nor’wester is sweeping through the country on Friday, with the Met office reporting wind speed of 45 to 60 km/hour in some places.

A cloudy sky accompanied by intermittent rain is likely to persist throughout the day, according to a Met office bulletin.

Previously, the Met office predicted winds accompanied by thundershowers in some parts of Rangpur, Mymensingh, Sylhet, Rajshahi, Khulna, Dhaka, Barisal, and Chittagong due to the depression at the Bay of Bengal.

The authorities, in a warning to the maritime ports, said that high winds with speeds of 60 to 80 km/hour is likely to sweep through Rajshahi, Pabna, Rangpur, Dinajpur, Bogra, Tangail, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Faridpur, Comilla and Sylhet.

The maritime ports in these regions have been advised to hoist danger signal-2.

Meanwhile, the rest of the ports were advised to hoist danger signal-1.
