Valiant freedom fighter, former Awami League leader Newaz Khan passes away

Md Ali Newaz Khan, a valiant freedom fighter and former vice-president of Dhaka North City Unit Awami League (AL), has passed away at a hospital in Dhaka.

The 66-year-old breathed his last around 9am on Friday.

He left behind his wife, son, two daughters, a host of relatives and admirers to mourn his death.

Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death of Newaz Khan.

She prayed for the eternal salvation of the departed soul and expressed sympathy to the bereaved family.

Meanwhile, Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader also expressed his profound sorrow and shock at death of Newaz Khan.

Awami League in a press release said that valiant freedom fighter Newaz Khan was always steadfast with ideals of Bangabandhu and was a tested leader in the bad days of Awami League.

"His death caused an irreparable loss for Awami League," it added.
