Huawei comes forward again to aid flood relief efforts

In response to the devastation caused by torrential rain and monsoon floods in Bangladesh, Huawei Technologies (Bangladesh) Ltd has come forward to a public assistance appeal and aided relief supplies to affected flood-ravaged areas in northern Bangladesh, in Singra, Natore.

This relief effort has been undertaken when Bangladesh has been facing another fatal wave of flood, affecting almost a third of the country in this disastrous global Covid-19 pandemic.

The relief program took place in the second week of September. An online event was organized where Zunaid Ahmed Palak, minister of state for Information, Communication and Technology division, joined along with Zhang Zhengjun, the CEO of Huawei Technologies (Bangladesh) Ltd.

The donations funded the purchase and distribution of relief items which include dry foods, salt and masks for 2,000 families in Singra.

Palak says: “We need to stand by our needy people in this crisis. It should be a combined effort from individuals and organizations. For the last few years, the people of Singra, Natore have been getting relief under Huawei’s efforts.”

“It represents that a localized global company is maintaining its social responsibilities in Bangladesh and taking care of its inhabitants whenever possible.”

Zhang Zhengjun says: “This relief program is our holistic approach towards the betterment of lives in the flood-affected areas, and this includes our vision of making peoples’ lives better as a responsible corporate being. As a localized global company in Bangladesh, our aim is ‘In Bangladesh for Bangladesh.’”

Singra has been marked as one of the “danger” zones. The flood situation deteriorated in the Singra upazila as Atrai, Baral, Barnai, and Gurnai rivers were flowing above the danger levels in the last few weeks.
