The Bangladesh Air Force (BAF) is observing the 49th death anniversary of Bir Sreshtha Matiur Rahman with due solemnity.
BAF issued a press release on Thursday, confirming the matter.
Bir Sreshtha Matiur Rahman’s heroic sacrifice during the 1971 Liberation War is remembered with high esteem.
To commemorate the occasion, a milad mahfil was arranged at the mosques of all BAF bases and units. A special Munajat was also offered seeking divine blessings of the departed soul of the deceased. Officers, airmen, and other members of BAF were present.
Earlier in the morning, on behalf of chief of air staff, Assistant Chief of Air Staff (Admin) Air Vice Marshal A K M Ahsanul Hoque, BSP, ndu, afwc, psc paid homage to the martyred, placing floral wreath at his grave. He also took part in the special Munajat to commemorate his contribution with great solemnity.
Air Officer Commanding of Bangladesh Air Force Base Bangabandhu Air Vice Marshal M Sayed Hossain, OSP, BSP, GUP, ndc, psc was also present on the occasion.
Online programs were also arranged at schools and colleges of Bangladesh Air Force to highlight the life of Bir Sreshtha Matiur Rahman.
