Police have allegedly forced the mother of one of three persons, who were held by the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) over retired Army Major Sinha Mohammad Rashed Khan’s murder, to file a case on a charge of abduction.
Several unidentified persons have been made accused in the case.
Police from Teknaf police station went to the house of Khaleda Akhter, mother of detained Nurul Amin, and took her fingerprint to file the case, Khaleda told reporters.
On Tuesday, RAB detained Nizam Uddin, Md Ayas and Nurul Amin, all residents of Marishbunia area under Baharchara in Teknaf. Nurul Amin is a member of community policing in Marishbunia.

Meanwhile, a Cox’s Bazar court has remanded seven more suspects – four police officers and the three detained witnesses – over the killing of retired Major Sinha in police firing on Wednesday.
RAB had produced Nizam, Ayas, and Nurul before a Cox’s Bazar court on Tuesday seeking a 10-day remand for each. However, the court did not issue any order on the day.
Nizam, Ayas, and Nurul were made prime witnesses in two cases which were filed against Shipra Debnath and Shahedul Islam Sifat, who were arrested following police reportedly shooting Sinha to death at a checkpost in Cox's Bazar's Marine Drive on July 31.
However, Nurul and Ayas, following the allegations against arrested OC Pradeep, Inspector Liakat, and SI Nanda Dulal surfaced that Sinha had been shot dead intentionally, spoke up and told the media that they were completely unaware of the incident.
They said that they had neither witnessed the incident nor heard about it. The two also claimed that police had taken their signatures on blank paper, without disclosing the reason to them.

The new Officer in-Charge (OC) of Teknaf Police Station, Abul Faisal, said the police did not know about the three witnesses’ arrest by RAB until Tuesday afternoon when they were produced in court.
He claimed that some unidentified people had picked them up from home on Monday night on a microbus. Their relatives informed police that night and a general diary was filed.
Police visited the area, found the abduction incident to be true and the case was filed by Nurul Amin’s mother on Tuesday morning.
Four cops, three witnesses remanded
Senior Judicial Magistrate Court Judge Tamanna Farha on Wednesday placed the suspects in remand for seven days after RAB sought a 10-day remand for each.
Earlier on Monday, a court sent four policemen – Sub-Inspector Litan Miah and Constables Safanur Karim, Kamal Hossain and Abdullah Al Mamun – to jail in the murder case.

Sharmin Shahriar Ferdous, elder sister of Sinha, filed a case with Teknaf Senior Judicial Magistrate Court on Wednesday.
Major (retd) Sinha, along with Sifat and Shipra, had gone to Cox’s Bazar to make a documentary film on travelling.
