8 people return to Bangladesh from Canada

Eight Canadian citizens, engaged in different lines of work in Bangladesh, have returned to Bangladesh after being stranded in their country due to the travel restrictions enforced to limit the spread of coronavirus.

A special Qatar Airways flight carrying the returnees landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at around 2:40pm on Monday, said an airport security official.

Among the returnees, three were high commission officials, four were humanitarian program staff and one a crew member. The humanitarian workers will set out for Cox’s Bazar to resume their work at the Rohingya camps there.

All of them were in possession of medical certificates from Canada stating they were Covid-19 negative, said an airport health official.
