Legal notice served seeking DGHS DG's resignation

A legal notice has been served seeking resignation of the director general of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) for apparently failing to take effective measures to ensure the safety of public health.

Supreme Court lawyer Advocate JR Khan Robin sent the notice to DGHS DG Prof Dr Mohammad Abul Kalam Azad, via email on Thursday.

The legal notice was also forwarded to the secretaries of three ministries – Finance, Public Administration and Health and Family Welfare Ministry.

The notice said, according to different media reports, 170 doctors,100 police personnel, 18 journalists, 7 administration officers, several nurses as well as health workers along with 3,382 people at present are infected by coronavirus  and 110 peoples had died from the deadly virus.

It also said that the DGHS DG, along with others, could not ensure the safety of public health in the country by failing to take effective measures to protect the concerned people as well as the public.

The notice said warned of legal action against the DG for the interest of the aggrieved persons as well as the public and the DG will be held liable for all damages caused by countrywide outbreak.
