The government has been tracking mobile phones of all the expatriates who recently arrived in Bangladesh from different countries.
The tracking determines their location so that they do not violate their home-quarantine, imposed by authorities concerned, Dhaka Divisional Commissioner Mustafizur Rahman said during a meeting on Friday.
Bangladesh Police is finding out the violators of home-quarantine rules through GPS tracking and instantly informing the administration.
Then the administration is ensuring their (expatriates’) home-quarantine with the support of the Department of Health.
On average, 7,000 expats who arrived in Bangladesh since March 1 are mostly under surveillance, according to the immigration police of Bangladesh.
Mustafizur said: “We have taken all kinds of initiatives for building awareness among people over the coronavirus, across the country.”
As of Friday, 20 people were infected with coronavirus in Bangladesh, of which one died and three have recovered.
The coronavirus has infected 275,871 people around the world according to worldometer, as of Saturday.
