BIMSTEC Secretariat joins Bangabandhu's birth centenary celebration

The BIMSTEC Secretariat has conveyed its unity with Bangladesh on the occasion of the birth centenary celebration of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

It unveiled a banner, paying tribute to the Father of the Nation, at the BIMSTEC Secretariat at Gulshan. This banner will be displayed throughout the Mujib Borsho (Mujib Year), starting March 17, 2020 and culminating on March 26, 2021.  

Ambassador M Shahidul Islam, Secretary General of BIMSTEC, unveiled the banner in the presence of directors representing Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Myanmar, and Nepal, and other officials of the Secretariat.  

M Shahidul Islam hailed Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman as a visionary statesman, who envisaged regional cooperation in this part of the world for greater peace, progress and prosperity. 

He added that BIMSTEC, which brings together seven nations surrounding the Bay of Bengal, exemplified the vision of Bangabandhu.
