DGHS: 1,929 more hospitalized for dengue in 24hrs

In the last 24 hours, a total of 1,929 dengue patients have been admitted to different hospitals across Bangladesh.

Dengue, a mosquito-borne virus, spreads among humans through its carrier Aedes mosquito. 

In a press release issued on Thursday, Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said the number of admitted patients currently undergoing treatment in government and private hospitals combined is 7,570.

A total 40 dengue patients have died across Bangladesh from January 1 till August 15, according to their own collected data. However, the unofficial death toll is reported to be over 87.

A total of 3,910 patients are currently receiving treatment in 40 government and private hospitals in Dhaka, whereas a total of 3,660 people are undergoing treatment outside Dhaka, the release said.

Since January 1 till August 15, a total of 48,280 people have been affected by dengue.

Among those admitted, a total of 40, 670 have been released from their respective hospitals and clinics after treatment.
