Google celebrates Bangladeshi-American architect FR Khan’s birthday

The world’s most-used web search engine Google has created a doodle marking the 88th birthday of Bangladeshi-American structural engineer and architect Fazlur Rahman Khan. The search engine honoured the structural engineer with its front-page doodle to mark his birthday on Monday. The doodle was created by Lydia Nichols.

Fazlur was born on April 3, 1929 in Dhaka. He died of a cardiac arrest in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia in 1982. Fazlur designed the John Hancock Centre in Chicago when he was only 35 years. Every skyscraper ahead of it on the list of the world’s tallest buildings with the exception of the Empire State Building is a descendant of Fazlur’s design. Users will get information on Fazlur Rahman Khan when they click on the doodle.
