Fire at a warehouse at Lalbagh

A fire ripped through a scrap goods warehouse in the Lalbagh area of Old Dhaka on Thursday. Fire Service control room duty officer Palash Chandra Madak told the Dhaka Tribune that the blaze started around 6am. “Six firefighting units rushed to the spot and doused the fire by around 7:50am,” he said. The reason of the fire could not be ascertained yet, said Enayet Hossain, officer-in-charge of Fire Service headquarters. “The fire might have originated from short-circuit.” Jahangir Hossain, one of the owners of scrap shops housed in the warehouse, said the fire damaged goods worth around Tk40 lakh.
