A helicopter carrying Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader has made an emergency landing in Sirajganj’s Tarash upazila due to heavy fog.
The ruling party’s Joint General Secretary Jahangir Kabir Nanak, who was also in the helicopter, confirmed the matter to local Awami League leaders.
"It was difficult to fly in the heavy fog and cloud so the helicopter had to land at Indigenous Khirshin village in the upazila," Jahangir Kabir said.
"We resumed the journey after 40 minutes when the weather became normal."
Abdul Kudus, chairman of Deshugram Union, told the Dhaka Tribune that he and Sirajganj upazila Chairman Abdul Haque rushed to the spot after hearing about the incident.
"Soon a lot of people including local Awami League leaders also went to meet the minster there," he said.
No injuries were reported.
