More suspects believed to be involved in the murder of Mahmuda Khanam Mitu, wife of Superintendent of Police Babul Akter, are under the watch of law enforcement agencies, said Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal.
“We have already arrested two of them and will certainly be able to nab the others soon,” he told reporters in Dhaka on Monday.
Babul's wife Mahmuda Khanam Mitu was
stabbed and shot to death in Chittagong on June 5.
Police on Sunday claimed the arrested suspects had
confessed to their involvement in the killing.
Police in Dhaka
interrogated SP Babul for hours on Saturday, giving rise to some wild speculations. But the home minister said Babul had been taken in to meet the suspects arrested over his wife's murder.
