NCC polls: 8 nomination papers accepted, 1 scrapped

Returning Officer Nuruzzaman Talukder made the disclosure at Narayanganj Club on Sunday afternoon. The valid nomination papers are of Awami League’s Selina Hayat Ivy, BNP’s Advocate Shakhawat Hossain Khan, Workers Party’s Advocate Mahbubur Rahman Ismail, Islami Andolon’s Mufti Masum Billah, JSD’s Moslemuddin, LDP’s Kamal Prodhan, Kallyan Party’s Rashed Ferdous and Islami Oikya Jote’s Ezharul Islam. The commission scrapped the nomination paper of independent aspirant Sultan Mahmud as he lacked three signatures out of prerequisite 300. The returning officer, however, said Sultan can appeal to Dhaka Divisional office within November 29. The deadline for nomination submission for the polls was Thursday while the deadline to withdraw candidacy is on December 4. The polls will be held on December 22.
