Rajshahi University (RU) authorities have ordered students to vacate the halls by 12pm on Wednesday, citing security reasons.
The decision was made during an emergency meeting of the university's syndicate on Tuesday night.
The university's public relations department announced the decision in a press release issued at around 1am on Wednesday.
Quota movement: Educational institutions shut down across BangladeshAccording to the press release, the Rajshahi University syndicate's emergency meeting at 11:30pm on Tuesday decided to close all educational activities until further notice. This decision was made in line with directives from the Bangladesh University Grants Commission and the Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh, prioritizing student safety. Students have been instructed to vacate the halls by 12pm on Wednesday.
Following the announcement, some students began leaving the halls. However, others have rejected the directive, stating they will not leave and demanding that the halls be kept free from political influence.
