Students of Begum Rokeya University in Rangpur have staged a protest and gathered at the Modern intersection, the city's entry point, demanding various reforms including quota reforms in government jobs, they surrounded the deputy commissioner’s office and submitted a memorandum to the president.
Alongside university students, students from various colleges also participated.
Earlier, the students held a protest rally on the university campus and marched around various roads.
They later gathered at the Modern intersection in Rangpur city and staged their protest there, delivering speeches at the event.
After concluding the gathering, the students marched towards the Town Hall square in the city and surrounded the deputy commissioner’s office to continue their protest.
Since the deputy commissioner was not present, they stayed there to carry on with their demonstration.
They announced that they would only submit the memorandum to the deputy commissioner and not to any other official.
Around 2:30pm, a delegation of students went to the office of Rangpur Deputy Commissioner Mobashwer Hasan to submit the memorandum prepared for the President.
The deputy commissioner assured the students that he would send the memorandum to the president's office promptly.
