Students and job seekers took up positions to successfully carry out their morning-to-evening blockade at Shahbagh in the capital on Wednesday morning, on the third day of their Bangla Blockade program, to demand quota reform and merit-based recruitment.

They first started gathering in front of the central library of Dhaka University at about 9:30am, with students in small processions from various departments and dorms arriving in front of the building.

They began chanting various anti-quota slogans, and many were holding different placards, while others had national flags in their hands.

Later, at around 11am, they held a protest march in front of the library, passing by Madhur Canteen, residential areas, Raju Memorial Sculpture and finally blocking the Shahbagh intersection.

At this time, a group in favour of quotas was forming a human chain in front of the National Museum. However, after the anti-quota protesters took their positions, they left the area.
