Update : 05 Jul 2024, 12:24 PM

Due to the rain and the onrush of water from upstream, the water levels of rivers in Tangail, especially the Jamuna and Jhenai, have increased significantly.

This rise has led to the inundation of new areas in the district, including villages and agricultural fields. Hundreds of people are once again marooned.

According to the Tangail Water Development Board (WDB), in the last 24 hours, the water level of the Jhenai River at Jokarchar point has increased by 41cm, the Brahmaputra-Jamuna River at Porabari point by 38cm, the Dhaleshwari River at Elasin point by 41cm, the Fatikjani River at Nalchapa Bridge point by 30cm, and the Bangshai River at Kauljani point by 10cm.

Sajjad Hossain, executive engineer of the Tangail Water Development Board, said they are working to prevent erosion.
