Students from Dhaka University blocked the Shahbagh intersection on Thursday, demanding the cancellation of the freedom fighter quota system in government jobs.
Thousands of students protested, chanting various slogans to express their demands to the government.
Earlier in the day, the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court upheld the High Court’s verdict that declared the decision to cancel the quota system, including the first and second-class freedom fighter quota in government jobs, illegal.
Consequently, the High Court's verdict remains in effect.
