The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested three members of Myanmar's separatist group Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (Arsa) along with local and foreign weapons.
The arrests were made after a raid at a shelter in Rohingya Camp No. 4 in Ukhiya, Cox’s Bazar, on Tuesday.
RAB-15 Captain Lt Col HM Sajjad Hossain provided the information at a press briefing organized at the Cox's Bazar RAB-15 office on Wednesday.
In the press briefing, he said that Hafez Kamal and his two accomplices are masterminds behind various killings in the Rohingya camp and are commanders within the Arsa zone.
On Tuesday, acting on intelligence, a RAB team raided the Palangkhali Rohingya Bazar area of Ukhiya and arrested Arsa member Saiful Kamal. Based on the information provided by him, RAB then raided a hideout in Rohingya Camp No. 4 at night, arresting Hafez Kamal along with his associate and bodyguard Ansar Ullah.
A foreign G-3 rifle, an indigenous LG, seven rounds of ammunition, and one empty cartridge were recovered from them.
During preliminary interrogation, the arrested individuals provided important information about their involvement in various terrorist activities, including murder and abduction, linked to their association with Arsa.
