Rangpur City Corporation Mayor Mostafizur Rahman Mostafa has announced that all sacrificial animal waste in the city corporation will be cleaned within 12 hours.
He made this statement during the inauguration of the sacrificial animal waste cleaning campaign at Shapla Square in Rangpur Metropolitan area Monday afternoon.
The city corporation mayor said that Rangpur City Corporation is one of the largest city corporations in the country, covering an area of 200 square kilometres.
To clean up all the sacrificial animal waste, over 1,000 sanitation workers and several 100 trucks have already been deployed.
He mentioned that announcements were made via loudspeakers before Eid, urging residents to dispose off sacrificial waste in designated city corporation dustbins. The deadline for this disposal was set for 5pm.
He expressed hope that the city residents would respond to this call. He also directed that all waste, including blood, be cleaned from various neighbourhoods and even streets within the next 12 hours.
Following the mayor's inauguration, the city-wide waste cleaning operation commenced.
