Rangpur's Haribhanga mango, renowned for its exceptional taste and aroma, will officially hit the market on June 20.
However, farmers are concerned that this year's mango yield will be lower than usual due to continuous drought.
Approximately 2,000 hectares have been cultivated with this variety this year.
Traders estimate that if conditions remain favorable, the mangoes could generate over Tk300 crore in sales.
Haribhanga mangoes
Haribhanga mangoes are exceptionally juicy and fleshy.
On average, three Haribhanga mangoes weigh 1 kg, which is more than most other mango varieties.
Some individual mangoes weigh between 500-700 grams.
These nutritious mangoes remain fresh for extended periods; their skin may wrinkle but they do not rot.
In July 2021, India received 2,600 kilos of Haribhanga mangoes from Bangladesh as a token of friendship between the two neighboring countries.
