BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has alleged that the Awami League has now become a party that resembles former army chief General (Retd) Aziz Ahmed and former inspector general of police (IGP) Benazir Ahmed.

Speaking at a discussion in Manikganj on Tuesday, he said that the ruling party has now become bankrupt and is no longer a political institution. BNP acting chairman Tareque Rahman attended the program virtually.

Fakhrul claimed that 22 party men have sacrificed their lives in recent months. In addition, the government has filed 6 million false cases against BNP leaders and activists.

He said that the Awami League is now staying in power with help from corrupt bureaucrats and government employees.

He also asserted that the members of the ruling party are receiving a commission of 5% on projects that China undertakes. Besides, they are also taking a 5% commission in the tender process.

In addition, a privileged person is taking additional commission from mobile financial service provider Nagad, he alleged.
