In order to provide housing facilities for low-income individuals and residents, the Bangladesh government has made plans to construct 4,032 rental-based residential flats in the 2024-2025 fiscal year.
If approved, the flats will be constructed in Tongi, Gazipur, Shyampur, and Kadamtali in Dhaka, Chanpara in Narayanganj and Khulna's Haringhata area, said Finance Minister Abul Hasan Mahmood Ali in his budget speech on Thursday.
Meanwhile, construction work of 4,856 residential flats for government officials and employees is underway.
Finance Minister Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali presented the proposed budget for the 2024-2025 fiscal year amounting to Tk797,000 crore (Tk7.97 trillion) in parliament on Thursday.
This was his first budget unveiling and the first budget after the reelection of the Awami League government in January.
