A tourist has reportedly been abducted in Sajek, located in the Baghaichari upazila of Rangamati.
The abduction of Dipita Chakma, 25, a student of Dhaka University, took place around 1pm on Wednesday, said locals and the police.
Dipita, who is currently pursuing her master's in the Department of Public Administration, is the daughter of Shitendra Bikash Chakma and hails from Khagrachhari.
Dipita was travelling to Sajek with her friends from Khagrachhari. In the afternoon, a group of unidentified armed people intercepted their vehicle in the Shijokchara area and kidnapped her.
Sajek police station Officer-in-Charge Md Nurul Haque said a rescue operation is underway.
