DNCC mayor blames lack of coordination for traffic jam

Unplanned construction of various buildings and structures are also responsible for severe traffic congestion , says Mayor Atiq

Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Mayor Atiqul Islam on Tuesday blamed the lack of coordination of various organizations for the severe traffic jam in the capital.

"We have to work in a coordinated manner to get rid of this problem. There is no alternative for all the departments concerned to work together to reduce traffic congestion,” he said at a programme in the city, reports Bangla Tribune.

The event was organized for the signing ceremony of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation (BRTC) and the DNCC in the capital's Gulshan-2 area to widen the intersection adjacent to the BRTC bus depo.

Atiq said: "We ourselves have created severe traffic jams by unplanned construction of various buildings and structures.”

In the presence of the mayor, DNCC Chief Executive Officer Md Selim Reza and BRTC Chairman Tajul Islam signed the MoU.
