The Indian government has officially designated Hizb-Ut-Tahrir as a "Terrorist Organization."
The announcement was made by the Ministry of Home Affairs on Thursday, aligning with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's policy of zero tolerance towards terrorism.
In a statement released on X (formerly Twitter), the ministry highlighted that Hizb-Ut-Tahrir has been involved in various acts of terror, including radicalizing vulnerable youths to join terrorist organizations and raising funds for terrorist activities.
The group poses a serious threat to India's national security and sovereignty.
"The Modi government is committed to securing Bharat by dealing with the forces of terror with an iron fist," the statement read.
A gazette notification has also been issued to formalize this declaration.
